This Privacy Policy explains how James Germi, MD (“GasClass,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the GasClass mobile application (the “App”). By using the App you agree to this Policy and our Terms of Use.
GasClass is an educational study tool for anesthesiology trainees and clinicians. It is not a medical device, not a source of medical advice, and not for use in patient care.
The data controller is James Germi, MD, contactable at jimmygermi@gmail.com.
a. Account information (when you sign in). GasClass uses Supabase for authentication and signs you in through Sign in with Apple, Google, or Microsoft. We store your email address (with Sign in with Apple this may be a private, Apple-relayed address if you choose to hide your email), display name (if provided), and a unique user identifier. We never receive your Apple, Google, or Microsoft password.
b. Learning progress. To sync across devices we store which lectures you played, playback position, duration, completion status, timestamps, and where applicable favorites, playlists, bookmarks (sections you flag for review), and question results, linked to your user identifier.
c. Profile information (optional). If you choose to complete your in-app profile, we store the details you provide: your training stage (e.g., medical student, resident, fellow, attending), your practice setting (e.g., academic, community), and your institution (its name, and — if you pick it from our built-in list — its city and state). Every field is optional: you can leave it blank, choose “Prefer not to answer,” and edit or clear it at any time in the app. We use this only to personalize your experience and understand, in aggregate, who uses GasClass; we do not use it for advertising. It is linked to your user identifier.
d. On-device data. App settings and a local cache of your progress are stored on your device and stay there unless synced as above.
e. Technical information. Standard internet information (IP address, device/OS type, request logs) may be automatically processed by our infrastructure providers to deliver content and secure the service. We do not build advertising profiles.
What we do NOT collect. The App does not access your microphone, camera, contacts, photos, precise location, or health/HealthKit data. It contains no third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs. We do not sell your personal information.
Only to: create and maintain your account and authenticate you; deliver lecture and question content; sync learning progress across devices; maintain security and operate the service; and comply with the law. Legal bases (GDPR): performance of our contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and consent where required.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share only with service providers, as needed:
| Provider | Purpose | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication & database (progress sync) | Account ID, email, name, profile, progress records |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple (if chosen); app distribution / purchases (if used) | Authentication data per Apple’s policy; per Apple’s App Store policies |
| Sign-in identity provider (if chosen) | Authentication data per Google’s policy | |
| Microsoft | Sign-in identity provider (if chosen) | Authentication data per Microsoft’s policy |
| Cloudflare (R2) | Hosting/delivery of content | Network/technical request data |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in a business transfer (with notice).
Providers may process data in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, EEA/UK transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses.
We keep account and progress data while your account is active. On account deletion or request, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict your data, to object, and to withdraw consent. EEA/UK users may complain to a supervisory authority. California users have CCPA/CPRA rights; we do not “sell” or “share” personal information and do not discriminate for exercising rights. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly in the app (account menu → Delete Account). To exercise any other right, email jimmygermi@gmail.com.
We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and provider access controls. No system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
GasClass is intended for medical trainees and professionals 18 and older. It is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA/UK), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
We may update this Policy; material changes update the “Last updated” date and may be notified in-app. Continued use means acceptance.
jimmygermi@gmail.com — James Germi, MD.
These Terms are a binding agreement between you and James Germi, MD (“GasClass”). By tapping “I Agree,” creating an account, or using the App, you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. The App is for personal educational study by medical students, residents, fellows, physicians, and clinicians.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control for non-commercial educational use. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, sublicense, reverse engineer (except as law allows), scrape, build a competing product, or use the App unlawfully.
GasClass is an educational and exam-preparation study aid. It is NOT medical advice, NOT a medical device, and NOT a substitute for professional clinical judgment, training, supervision, institutional protocols, drug labeling, or primary literature.
You acknowledge and agree:
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GasClass disclaims all liability for any harm, injury, or loss — including injury or death to any patient — arising from reliance on the App or its content.
You are responsible for safeguarding your account and all activity under it. Sign-in uses third-party providers (Sign in with Apple, Google, or Microsoft) governed by their own terms. Notify us of unauthorized use.
The App and all content are provided “as is” and “as available,” with all faults and without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant the App is uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that content is accurate, current, or complete.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GasClass and its owners, contributors, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, or for any damages arising from personal injury, medical error, or patient harm, under any theory, even if advised of the possibility.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the App in the prior 12 months, or (b) US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless GasClass and its owners and contributors from claims, damages, liabilities, and costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms or any law, or your violation of a third party’s rights — including any claim arising from a clinical decision you make.
The App and its content are owned by GasClass or its licensors and protected by law. Third-party source material referenced for educational commentary remains the property of its owners.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations or to protect the service. You may stop using the App anytime. Sections 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11 survive termination.
Governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, seated in Bethany Beach, Delaware (or conducted remotely). You and GasClass each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class, collective, or representative action. Either party may use small-claims court for qualifying claims. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing jimmygermi@gmail.com.
These Terms are between you and GasClass, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance/support and, to the extent permitted by law, no warranty obligation; warranty, product-liability, regulatory-conformance, consumer-protection, and IP-infringement claims are GasClass’s responsibility, not Apple’s. You represent you are not in an embargoed country or on a U.S. prohibited-parties list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them.
We may update these Terms; material changes are presented for acceptance in-app. Continued use means acceptance.
If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective. No waiver by non-enforcement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement regarding the App. You may not assign; we may assign in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
